Fairchild Tropical Garden gets $4Million for new facility

The Miami Herald reports today that Fairchild Tropical Garden in Coral Gables has received a gift of $4Million from 2 NY Philanthropists who have a vacation home in Miami Beach.  This is great news for the Garden and for the City of Coral Gables.  The Garden has long been a center for botanical excellence but has recently begun offering a wider variety of cultural treats for the eyes and ears.

Many will remember the Chihuly Exhibit from a few years ago where the famed artist filled the Garden with his beautiful glass sculptures…here is a link to some great pics.   It does not say how long the construction of the new facility will take but a building that size should not take more than a year or so at the most.  When it is complete they will be able to host even more events to the delight of Coral Gables citizens and anyone who loves plants and art!
